God’s invitation is to be separated for Him, to enter into His fullness. When God came to Moses through the burning bush, He revealed His holiness, a fire that didn’t consume the bush. God was asking Moses to return to the land of his upbringing to deliver His people from oppression.

It’s God saying to Moses, “You are set apart; you stand on holy ground. Now I will take you into My fullness. But first, you must be consecrated—prepared to encounter My glory. This will be a deposit of My Spirit in you, which will keep you on holy ground. This is not dependent on your efforts or trying hard to remain in My presence. It is My presence, and it will never depart from you. It’s a promise and a gift, given to you, My servant Moses, so that you can accomplish what I’ve called you to do.”

This is My fullness for you, Moses, so you can witness My mighty hand in ways you never imagined. It’s greater than you, and it will bring you joy that will never stop. It will be your strength and courage to lead My people. Take courage, Moses. What you hold in your hand—the staff—will be a sign of My mighty hand at work. When you lift it up, it prophetically speaks of the cross on which Jesus was crucified to take away our curse and sin, setting us apart for Him and sanctifying us with the Holy Spirit within.

Our staff in our hands is the cross of Jesus, the power of God at work in our lives for those who believe. The cross of Jesus is like that staff—when you stand before the Pharaoh, he cannot quench you.

The cross leads us into the fullness of God. It is the bridge from Egypt to the promised land. It is the land of promise, where God says, “I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh.” Where the Spirit of God is, there is freedom. Where the Holy Spirit is, there is the fullness of God’s presence. In that fullness of His presence, there is joy. Where the Holy Spirit is, there is conviction of sin. Where the Holy Spirit is, there is purity. Where the Holy Spirit is, there is truth. The Holy Spirit dwells in those who have been redeemed by the cross and have received the promise from God of His Spirit. This is the sign of your holiness—His Spirit, who takes you from Egypt to Himself.

Exodus 3:2-5

2. And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed. 3. And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt. 4. And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I. 5. And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
